The Vitulano Drugstore Manfredonia beats Pordenone on penalties in the A2 Elite playoff final in front of the Sky Sport cameras and advances to the next Serie A. 2-2 in the regular 40′, 3-3 in the next 10′, then the final 7-5 from the spot. Luck smiles on Mister Ceppi’s team, which will return to the top category in October.
THE FINAL – Ziberi on one side, Djelveh on the other. The first part of the final was full of flames and finally lit up in the 12th minute, when Giampaolo offered an assist to the kiss for Barbieri: a backward ball and a surgical strike for the 1-0. Pordenone tries to respond: Chtioui for Della Bianca, but Glielmi deflects for a corner, then the incredible reflex of Vascello who avoids an encore from the Apulians by closing on the right to Taliercio’s volley. Another attempt by Hrvatin’s team, this time winning, with Chtioui equalizing, but the result changes immediately afterwards with Finato’s unfortunate own goal on Ronaldo’s cross shot: 2-1. Grigolon tries to put the match back in balance: insertion and control are excellent, but his right foot is slightly imprecise when crossing. Minatel unleashed in the 15th minute on two close occasions, but first Glielmi’s super save and then the crossbar denied him the joy of scoring. We start again with the Biancazzurri’s narrow advantage. Grigolon immediately tries to fill it but finds the response from Glielmi, but nothing can be done for the goalkeeper on Ziberi’s left-footed volley which makes it 2-2. Great closure by Vascello on Zullo, on the opposite left side by Stendler saved in a split. In the 15th minute, shortly after Murgo’s strike, Ronaldo plays deep for Zullo who severely challenges Vascello. Pordenone’s attack with Langella (crossbar), Ziberi and Chtioui, but Glielmi’s block holds: 2-2 and extra time.
EXTRA TIME AND PENALTIES – At 3′ of the first extra-time the key episode of the match: Giampaolo gets a free kick from the edge, Taliercio goes to the ball and proves lethal: 3-2 with a pure powerful right-footed shot. Murgo and Zullo try to close it out without luck, but there is still some suffering to be had: Hrvatin sends Minatel in for the last 2′ of power play and Grigolon resets everything with a strike 7″ from the siren. Murgo at his last breath: incredible post. The promotion is decided from the spot, just like it was last year between Cosenza and Active Network. Minatel makes a mistake, Giampaolo doesn’t: four spot kicks are enough at the Vitulano Drugstore Manfredonia to fly to Serie A, Pordenone ko amidst the applause of all those present.
