Drug dealing Of drug e smuggling of cigarettes: 13 gli arrests carried out this morning in the Bat as part of the “Recover” operation. Drugs and cigarettes reaching the port of Biscegliein the north of Bari, thanks to the complicity of some local fishermen who helped import them with their boats. Thirteen people were arrested (four in prison and nine under house arrest), including two women this morning, and charged with various charges of transfer, offer for sale, distribution and marketing of narcotics and import, transport and sale of contraband foreign manufactured tobacco.
The operation, called Recover and started in June two years ago, has allowed to ascertain a drug and tobacco trafficking managed by the suspects. Those arrested are mostly local people, except one who is a resident of Desio, in Lombardy. The quantity of tobacco and drugs seized during the investigations was considerable. The arrests were carried out by the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Barletta-Andria-Trani supported by the specialized units of the helicopter squadron Carabinieri hunters Puglia, the sixth helicopter unit of the Carabinieri of Bari and the dog unit of Modugno and in collaboration with the Carabinieri company of Desio.
The details of the investigation, coordinated by the Trani Prosecutor’s Office, will be made known in the morning during a press conference to be held at 11.00 in the provincial headquarters of the Carabinieri of Trani.
