Softball A2: Dalmine Crocetta splits stake with Rovigo

A win (11-4) and a defeat (12-2) due to obvious inferiority against the league leaders Rovigo: this is the balance of the last round of the A2 softball championship for Dalmine Crocetta, which now occupies fourth place in group B, with five wins and seven defeats.

In the first match Dalmine immediately showed determination, with the excellent Grignaffini on the platform who left the Rovigo batters scoreless in the first two innings and took the lead in the bottom of the second inning with the points scored by Benedetto on the great double by Portunato and by Portunato herself on the subsequent single by Riccò. However, the guests tied immediately at the change of sides, but Dalmine immediately took the lead again in the bottom of the third, when Bendetto hit a valid and pushed Ferrari to a point.

The turning point came in the fourth inning: first Rovigo tied with a double by Barbierato, then at the change of sides Dalmine loaded the bases and scored five runs, taking advantage of hits, walks and errors by the opposing defense. In the fifth, the three hits by Bonvini, Luca and Ravanetti were worth the three points needed to close due to obvious inferiority, 11-4. The second match immediately became uphill for Dalmine and Rovigo ran riot as the innings went by, until closing 12-2 in the fourth due to obvious inferiority.

Now Reverberi’s team occupies the fourth position, behind Rovigo, Lucca and Collecchio. Sunday the double challenge against Lucca, the last train to stay in the running for a place in the play-offs.
