Today, 31 May 2024, the Aosta City Council room hosted a special event: the meeting of the Municipal Assembly welcomed a delegation of students from the first classes of the “Luigi Einaudi” secondary school. This meeting is part of the “Children’s Municipal Council” project, an initiative that involves young people in the political and administrative life of their city.
During the session, the children presented various motion proposals, the result of their commitment and work carried out during the school year. The proposals, which concern both the city of Aosta and their school, aim to improve the quality of life and local infrastructure.
The Boys’ Proposals:
Class 1st A
- For the city of Aosta: Install machines that reward those who recycle plastic bottles with money, thus encouraging recycling and sustainability.
- For the educational institution: Provide the school with drinking fountains/water dispensers, as the tap water is not of good quality.
Class 1st B
- On the city streets: Repair potholes on the roads to improve the safety of motorcycles, scooters, bicycles and cars, thus reducing the risk of accidents and damage to vehicles.
- For the Aosta Skate park: Renovate it to make it safer and more welcoming, improving the ramps, cleaning the area and closing it at night to avoid bivouacs.
Class 1st C
- For the educational institution: Restore the grassy surface of the courtyard and install tables with benches to create a “green class”, thus allowing outdoor lessons during the spring months.
- For areas adjacent to the school: Increase parking for cars and motorbikes, reducing their cost and creating a loading/unloading lane near the school.
Class 1st D
- For the educational institution: Provide all classrooms with adequate desks and chairs, working heating, windows and curtains in good condition.
- For the city of Aosta: Ensure all parks are regularly cleaned and sanitized.
The project of the municipal children’s council, reconstituted in 2021 by the Office of the Presidency of the Council, received a prestigious recognition in 2024: the Scientific Committee of the Example” in the “Free Theme” section. The awards ceremony took place in Turin on 24 April, in the presence of the Prime Minister.
The initiative of the children’s municipal council represents an important opportunity for young people in Aosta to actively participate in city life, contributing with innovative ideas and practical solutions for the improvement of their community.
