Bergamo, a public meeting to discuss the topic of mobility in the city

In light of this scenario, Tuesday May 28th at 18 citizens are invited to a public meeting entitled “Mobility: not to go into reverse” and organized in the Meeting Room ofHotel Palazzo Santo Spirito in Bergamo. The event will be introduced by Marco Berlandacandidate on the list European Bergamo.

To discuss safety and traffic management in the city, Stefano ZenoniCouncilor for Environment and Mobility of the Municipality of Bergamo, Gianni ScarfoneCEO of Teb, Felice Sonzognipresident of the Mobility and Infrastructure Commission of Aci Bergamo. Greetings are also awaited Elena Carnevalimayoral candidate for the city, e Paola Rossileaders of Bergamo Europea.

“The meeting intends to offer ideas and reflections on the current traffic situation in the city of Bergamo, seeking solutions to resolve the various problems also through softer and more sustainable mobility, to make the environment more livable, safe and respectful – explains Marco Berlanda -. Mobility is one of the problems most felt by the people of Bergamo and our intent is to stimulate as many ideas as possible for the next administration. On the subject of mobility, the proposals for intervention by the two mayoral candidates, Carnevali and Pezzotta, radically diverge and the choices of the next administration will have a strong impact on the quality of life in the city”.

In Bergamo between the 80s and 90s, the number of cars exceeded 50,000 but although over the course of these subsequent decades, the number of cars has decreased, the topic remains of vital importance. To favor this evolution, the choices and measures including the birth of the ATB consortium between 2004 and 2005, the creation of an efficient urban network, the creation of limited traffic areas and the payment for parking areas.
