The march of Modica Calcio continues as in the Playoff Final of Group B they overcome the Milazzo obstacle to gain access to the National Phase of the play-offs which offer a place in the amateur championship. The 2-0 inflicted on the Mamertines comes at the end of a (yet another) convincing performance, flawless, with the right competitive malice in the attacking phase. In the Baron’s post-match, Mister Settineri praises the whole environment: “I believe that this team has achieved important results – he declares – it fell and got back up with humility. These guys deserve respect, the club and the staff should be praised for the work they put in every day.”

In the 4th minute Azzara’s volley was rejected by the Milazzo defence. In the 12th minute, a flying touch from Savasta was collected by Palermo who unleashed a counter-ball shot that went wide.

At 16′ Azzara served in depth by Ballatore, he finishes weakly without causing any problems for Quartarone.

In the 17th minute we see Milazzo today in the white jersey with a free kick from the former Gatto but the attempt ends up over Marino’s crossbar.

In the 20th minute the contest broke the deadlock: free kick for the Tigrotti, Azzara appeared on the ball and sent a perfect trajectory that found its way to Quartarone’s left. For the attacking winger from Modica it was goal number 5.

In the 22nd minute Milazzo responds with Ten Lopez who in a split from an excellent position misses the target fed by Isgrò; Savasta tries on the reversal in front but the conclusion ends up on the outside of the net.

The boys coached by Accept (replacing the suspended Venuto) try to get back into the game.

In the 31st minute the first real chance for the away team came from Gatto who severely challenged the Modica goalkeeper Marino who did well to block the free kick from the Mamertino midfielder which was destined for the top corner.

In the 38th minute Gatto scores again in the Modica area, but the Tigrotti goalkeeper grabs the ball in two halves.

In the 42nd minute, Mr. Chiarillo’s flag-waving from the Moliterno Section cancels out La Spada’s possible 1-1 goal, caught offside.

The first half ends with Modica leading 1-0. Milazzo protests for the annulled goal.

In the second half, the guests pushed hard in search of an equalizer which would take the match to extra time. Settineri’s rossoblù close all the gaps.

In the 47th minute Marino dived to his left and blocked a long-range shot from Gatto. Immediately a thrill for Modica.

In the 52nd minute Agolli’s forward pass towards Ten Lopez who takes advantage of an incorrect exit by Marino but the Argentine’s header is off target.

In the 56th minute Modica eased the ball with Savasta who let off a shot which ended above Quartarone’s goal.

In the 58th minute the new arrival Milazzo Gazzè shoots in a crooked way.

In the 60th minute Modica’s prolonged action but the visiting defense somehow manages to avoid the second capitulation.

In the 68th minute Gatto again from a free kick does not worry Marino. In the 69th minute a dangerous cross catches Ten Lopez who heads it but the ball crosses the entire small area and goes out for a lateral foul.

In the 78th minute Strano crossed towards the onrushing Parisi who towered over everyone but sent it wide.

In the 79th minute Cacciola, fed in depth by the excellent Azzara, inserted himself centrally between Milazzo’s defensive shirts and Quartarone coolly stretched out. Modica gets ever closer to the national playoffs, the 2-0 they conceded stuns the Mamertines.

In the 88th minute Ballatore’s shot was saved by the Milazzo goalkeeper.

Finally the usual Gatto in the 90th minute tries to at least halve the deficit, but his placed shot is rejected by the barrier.

The match ends with the rossoblù welcomed by an ovation from the public who flocked en masse to the Barone. For the Tigrotti on June 2nd in Piedimonte Matese there will be the Molise side Aurora Alto Casertano in the first leg of the National round. The return is scheduled a week later in Modica.

Milazzo ends the season with a defeat which, in addition to excluding the Mamertines from the playoffs, puts an end to the string of consecutive useful results without defeats which had reached 19.
