Benevento, equal with Torres: semi-final with Carrarese

A stoic Benevento takes the 0-0 in Sassari, qualifying for the playoff semi-finals. The Giallorossi played a lackluster match, withstanding Torres’ outbursts in the first half and double-locking the door in the final.

Next Tuesday the Samnites will already be on the field at the Stadio dei Marmi against Carrarese who eliminated Juventus Next Gen; return scheduled for Sunday 2 June at Vigorito. Auteri confirms last Tuesday’s victorious eleven. Berra, Capellini and Viscardi act in front of Paleari. Improta and Simonetti play wide, with Talia together with Nardi in the centre. The Ciciretti-Perlingieri-Lanini trident forward. Greco changes two elevenths in the lineup: Liviero plays in place of Zambataro on the left, forward Diakité takes over Fischnaller. Torres starts strong: Ciciretti loses a bloody ball, Diakité shoots, Paleari has to save. In the 5th minute Torres scores the goal, but it is disallowed for offside: Scotto hits the crossbar with his head, Zecca hits Simonetti, Ruocco corrects into the net. However, Zecca was initially offside.

Devilish Rossoblu. Zecca goes down to the right again, eluding Viscardi’s mark, Ruocco shoots high with his right foot from the edge. In the 22nd minute Paleari’s gloves were needed again for Diakité’s header. After the 25th minute, Torres slows down and Benevento breathes, but is unable to threaten. In the 37th minute Lanini starts at speed, extends the ball and ends up on the ground after contact with Dametto. For Galipò everything was fine, protests from both the attacker and the Samnite bench. Shortly after, Scotto appears in the area, shoots a cross with his left foot, there is no teammate at the far post. The Samnites were only seen for a returned cross from Simonetti in the 43rd minute. At the end of the half Mastinu tries first, with a right foot to the back, and then Liviero, on whom Paleari has to put his glove. Teams without goals at the break, after an entirely Sardinian first half. Torres starts well again. Nardi knocks out Dametto from the edge, free kick and yellow for the former Reggiana player who was booked for a booking. Scotto’s free kick and Mastinu’s subsequent shot hit the wall. In the 8th minute Liviero tries, shot deflected for a corner.

At 19′ Auteri tries to revitalize the attack, throwing Bolsius and Starita into the fray for a dull Ciciretti and Perlingieri. Torres drops the pace again and Benevento seems to settle for a draw. In the 26th minute a flash from Bolsius who slots in for Lanini, Zaccagno anticipates the outgoing former Matera player. Lanini himself comes out for Ferrante. In the 29th minute the Giallorossi defense trembles: the ball goes to the far post towards Idda who breaks away from Bolsius, Diakité scores in the small area. However, Idda was reported offside, with the confirmation of the VAR. In the 33rd minute, the first important episode: a melee in the Giallorossi area, Zecca tries a shot and hits Ferrante’s knee, the referee has no doubts and waves him a red card. Auteri changes again and covers himself: Improta exits and Meccariello enters, Talia is also out for Agazzi. Simonetti moves to the right, Viscardi moves up to the left and Capellini plays the left-handed arm. In the 38th minute the referee rebalances the men on the pitch, Bolsius is also sent off for a hammer-footed tackle on Liviero. In the 45th minute Ruocco shoots a shot into the area, Meccariello sacrifices his header. The referee grants 5′ of injury time; Martinelli’s chewed shot in the area, Paleari captures it. Torres puts her foot down and wins corner after corner. Paleari decisive with punches in high exits. Even goalkeeper Zaccagno goes up for the final forcing. In the 50th minute, a goal for the Sassari team: Giorico’s corner, Diakité breaks away and the ball just flies over the crossbar. In the 6th minute of injury time Simonetti knocks down Goglino and concedes a free kick from the left to the home team. Benevento clears the area and starts again with Viscardi running towards the empty goal, serving Starita who however allows himself to be recovered and does not take advantage of the chance.

The protest

Galipò blows the whistle three times, but the Torres players protest for a possible rigor. Moments of waiting, episode reviewed at the VAR and not judged punishable. The Giallorossi can celebrate and take the semi-final.
