LORETO – The Opere Laiche Lauretane and Casa Hermes Foundation experienced an excellent 2023 and has decided to open its door to citizens today, Saturday 25 May, to make the activities carried out for the benefit of the territory clear and explicit. The satisfaction of the president of the Federico Guazzaroni Foundation, alongside the director Massimiliano Russo, is not only numerical, but also overall when looking at the activities put on the table, in support of the Loreto community but more generally that of the Marche: «The budget for us is not a a factor exclusively linked to numbers but to the complex of our activities, starting from those with a social dimension. Having numbers in good health means being able to be more active and proactive in the area towards the population.”

The key figure is the historic budget achievement of Casa Hermes which presents a surplus of almost 11 thousand euros (from less than 420 thousand), an important success, due, explains President Guazzaroni, to various vectors: the end of the pandemic which allowed the structure to reach the maximum occupancy level of 100 beds plus the ability of Casa Hermes to maintain a high average employment level. «The recognition by the Region of an integration of the amount due to the fees of guests under the affiliated protected residence regime is also very important. We have started the process of converting from a retirement home to a sheltered home, there are now 66 affiliated places and we are trying to reach a total of one hundred, in order to raise the level of assistance and also the recognition of the Region. This step allows us to invest in the structure. In fact, by not making the retirement home an asset for profit, we decided to redistribute the profit of 11 thousand euros to the employees of the home in the form of shopping vouchers.” Then he looked to the future: «We are organizing an Alzheimer’s center with the Municipality, we have received 200 thousand euros of resources from a Roman foundation to open a multifunctional center for which we have the approval of the Municipality to also set up the library. As every year we have defined job grants, we have established the civil service by also opening the environmental sector for the first time, we have offered contributions to voluntary associations in the area. Finally, soon, we will sign an agreement with the Municipality of Porto Recanati for an overall reconversion of the rural area in the Scossicci area (approximately 320 hectares) through the creation of areas intended for socializing, inclusion and contact with nature, as well as through an important planting work”. Returning to the present, the Foundation has an agreement with the Don Gnocchi centre, it has a physiotherapy service in place for the elderly which will later be further strengthened. For social interventions, mention should be made of the annual summer stay for the elderly organized with the sole co-financing of the Opere Laiche Foundation. The pharmacy’s performance is positive, although with lower numbers compared to previous years when, due to Covid, more drugs and protective devices were sold and more swabs were carried out, but the trend remains the same positive. The agricultural company, however, had a limited drop in profit. International events such as wars have affected agriculture by determining higher prices of grain, while the decline then occurred because European incentives were interrupted and due to the increase in the cost of fuel and consumption such as seeds or fertilizers. In this context, however, the farsightedness of the farm’s management strategy of subdividing the owned land substantially in half, leasing part of it to avoid fluctuations in the market prices of the products sold and managing the other half directly was rewarded. in order to be able to enjoy the positive trend of the market.
