PERGOLA The tranquility of a sultry Sunday morning in the city of the Golden Bronzes was suddenly interrupted by the heated discussion between two citizens of Bangladesh, with one then hitting the other with a blunt force object to the head. The arrival of the men was immediate carabinieri and the 118 which immediately transported the injured man to the Santi Carlo e Donnino hospital. His condition is not a cause for concern.
The Sunday walk
It happened yesterday around 10.30, in the historic center, along Corso Matteotti near the ‘Voltarella’. There were several people around the city at that moment, some out for a walk and some enjoying breakfast in the city’s bars. A group of Bangladeshi citizens who have lived in Pergola for some time were also walking. Based on the reconstruction of the carabinieri, it appears that two compatriots had argued over the management of the accommodation they share. The brother of one of the two arrived on the street and expressed his grievances to the other in defense of his relative regarding the reason for the argument.
From words and shouts we quickly moved on to hands. The Bangladeshi who arrived grabbed some sort of pipe, evidently found nearby, and hit his brother’s opponent on the head. A decisive but not particularly violent blow, also considering the blunt instrument with which he delivered it. Several people witnessed the scene and inevitably there were moments of strong apprehension and fear. The Carabinieri of the local station led by Commander Stefano Di Summa were immediately alerted and within a short time they brought the situation back to normal. At the same time, an ambulance arrived and transported the injured man to the nearby hospital, where his temple wound was treated with the application of a few stitches. His condition is not serious. The investigations by the Pergolese military led to the identification of the protagonists. The attacker will be charged with personal injury.
The episode on social media
The incident soon spread to social media as well. Some report that it is not the first time that similar incidents have arisen among these Bangladeshi citizens. Two years ago, in the same place, the intervention of the police was necessary to stop a Senegalese man who, heavily influenced by alcohol, was bothering passers-by and customers of some commercial establishments.
