Unitre Thursday was dedicated this week to a guided tour of the Ibleo Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions Serafino Amabile Guastella, in Modica, at the Palazzo dei Mercedari. The initiative, shared by the mayor Maria Monisteri Caschetto who, in addition to having granted the patronage of the Municipality, intervened to authorize free entry to the Unitre delegation. The group, led by Marcella Burderi (in the photo) who, after presenting the program promoted by Unitre, visited the museum. It was a first appointment which, as was clarified during the meeting that preceded the visit, took the form of a general passage which will be followed by subsequent moments of meeting for specific detailed insights aimed at discovering everything that is present and represented in every corner of the museum.
“The visit to the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of Modica – stated Marcella Burderi – gives us the opportunity to reflect on the need to focus our attention on the popular culture of our land. The traditions, habits and customs of our people are the basis of our shared cultural system. Turning off the spotlight on this wealth means impoverishing our community, weakening it and making it vulnerable. It is the task of each cultural operator to preserve and cultivate the story of our past.”
President Enzo Cavallo also wanted to underline that “it was an interesting and engaging visit scheduled for the end of last year but which had to be postponed due to the delayed closure of the construction site which affected via Mercè and the square of the Basilica of the Madonna delle Thank you. We can say that it went as it should have gone and our satisfaction summarizes the satisfaction of all the participants thanks to the skill and preparation of Marcella Burderi who was able to involve those present in the presentation of every part of the museum. With the management we will now plan subsequent appointments for those in-depth studies which, after this visit, each participant considers unavoidable”.
