Citizens and tourists visited the new reality open to the public after the ribbon cutting
The Alessandrino Museum of Masks has been inaugurated, a new museum housed within the ancient walls of Palazzo Chidichimo, in Alessandria del Carretto, in the heart of the Pollino National Park.
Mayor Domenico Vuodo, full of emotion, cut the ribbon of the Museum destined to host the masks of traditional Italian and international folk carnivals from all over the world.
An entire wing of the Museum is dedicated to the Alessandria carnival, with its iconic and evocative characters.
A vast audience of bystanders thus crossed the doors of a place full of magic, destined to grow in the coming months, also thanks to the commitment of the Association the Połëcënellë e of his President Antonio Arvia, that so much was spent on the creation of the Museum.
The design of the Alessandrino Mask Museum was entrusted to Plan B srlswho also oversaw the organization of the first inaugural exhibition financed with resources from the PSC Development and Cohesion Plan 6.02.02 provided following the “Cultural Activity 2022” Notice from the Calabria Region – Department of Education, Training and Equal Opportunities – Culture Sector.
The Carnival of Alessandria del Carretto brings a story to lifea narrative made of gestures and rites, in which the Apollonian and Dionysian worlds meet and clash, sublimating the concept of time that transforms everything through the contrast between the phases of life, in a journey that from life reaches death but only as an intermediate stage before rebirth.
The ribbon cutting was preceded by an in-depth meeting on the theme of the Carnival of Alessandria del Carretto which was held in the Conference Room of Palazzo Chidichimo.
Together with the mayor Domenico Vuodo, Mayor of Alessandria del Carretto, Antonio Arvia, President of the Połëcënellë Association and the experts who spoke Alessandro Arvia and Paolo Napoli which underlined some dynamics of local carnival rites and how much there is still to investigate and discover about the Alessandria Carnival.
