“It will be necessary to change the communication method to encourage vaccines among the most at-risk groups. We will also have to exploit innovative modalities, such as nasal vaccines.” Alessandro Manenti, head of development at VisMederi, says this when speaking about the challenge against influenza that awaits the international scientific community. From the United States to Japan, today the world’s leading experts gathered in the Toscana Life Sciences auditorium to discuss the future of the sector. In fact, Siena is hosting the three-day “Influenza vaccines for the world 2024” event until tomorrow. No longer just intramuscular vaccines but also nasal sprays and throat lozenges: there are weapons to fight the virus. But there is another front where the battle will be fought and that of better communication, as highlighted among other things by Emanuele Montomoli, member of the scientific committee of “Influenza vaccines for the world 2024”. Vaccination coverage here, as in the rest of Europe, is not the best, especially among the elderly. However, the Scandinavian countries do better where, unlike us, there is great attention paid to raising awareness in the media. Manenti was the protagonist of a panel on the initiative this morning. During his speech he presented the work conducted by VisMederi and the various tests carried out in the laboratory to understand the antibody response of vaccines
