Bianco Rosso and Pontino returns to Latina over the weekend – Luna Notizie – Notizie di Latina

LATINA – From 24 to 26 May, Bianco Rosso and Pontino returns to Piazza del Popolo in Latina. Tastings, show cooking, workshops for children, debates and interviews with free entry. In the heart of the city the scents and flavors of the Pontine countryside, the Lepini and Circeo.

“The event – declares Tourism Councilor Gianluca Di Cocco – aims to be the link between tourism and the traditions of our territory. Our administration has decided to revive the successful event of 2019, transforming it into an attraction not only for Latina, but for the entire province. Tourism, in fact, has completely changed its face over the last few years and food and wine has become a significant attraction for travellers. There are several cities that have adapted to this trend by rethinking their strategies for promoting the territory, creating streets and itineraries of taste, giving life to food festivals that act as a link between enthusiasts and producers. Combining food and wine with art and tourism is certainly a winning formula and our province, like all of Lazio, is rich in typical products and gastronomic traditions. Protecting and promoting these products is certainly one of the tasks of every local administration from an agricultural, industrial, commercial and tourism point of view”.

In the village set up in Piazza del Popolo there will also be space for local companies, present with exhibition stands. Citizens will thus have the opportunity to learn about local excellence, tasting and purchasing the products of interest. Alongside the wineries and breweries there will also be typical gastronomic products in order to savor the goodness of this area 100%.

Many trade and sector associations have joined the initiative: Confagricoltura Latina, Confcommercio Lazio Sud, La Spesa nel Borgo, Coldiretti Latina, Unione Artigiani Italiani di Latina, Confesercenti Latina, Slow Food Latina, Capol, AIS Lazio, FIS Latina , Strade del Vino e dell’Olio di Latina, Associazione Provinciale Cuochi, Federcarni Lazio Sud. Thanks to their collaboration, a rich and dynamic program of events will come to life capable of involving adults and children. Master classes are planned with guided tasting of oil and wine, but also mozzarella workshops, debates on craft beer, as well as show cooking and interviews with the companies present.

“This new edition – continues Di Cocco – aims to be a journey capable of giving emotions to the public and the companies involved. An event that will bring together the producers in a real village of taste in the center of Latina for all food and wine enthusiasts and beyond. This is why I thank Mayor Matilde Celentano for sharing the realization of this event.”

The municipal administration has also decided to award two awards, to the company and the chef who have demonstrated with their work a strong bond with the territory of the province of Latina, while innovating and knowing how to experiment. The two prizes will be named after Silvio Di Francia, former councilor for Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Latina, creator of Bianco Rosso and Pontino, who passed away prematurely in March 2023. The prizes will be awarded during the event.

The event was also organized thanks to the contribution of the Lazio Region and Lazio Crea as part of the initiatives dedicated to the municipalities of Lazio for the events to be held in the territory of the Lazio Region in the period between 15 March 2024 and 30 June 2024 .

“We look forward to seeing many of you – concludes the Tourism Councilor – from Friday 24 May, from 4pm to 8pm in Piazza del Popolo in Latina. In the following days the village will be open from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 8pm. All events and tastings will be free.”
