Same program in the men’s field with the addition of the triple jump. The competitions will give athletes the opportunity to achieve the minimum required for participation in national, European and world championships.

With 1400 registered athletes the organizers can already say they are extremely satisfied, among the participants the prominent names will be those of Celeste Polzonetti, the Italian junior multiple record holder will be involved in the 100hs, in the junior women’s 100m there will be Agnese Musica, Italian student champion, participant in the World Championships in Colombia, again in the 100 juniors, Ludovica Galuppi from Castellanza will be at the start, another strong athlete in orbit with the blue jersey.

In the 400 category promises Bianca Grendene, Erika Saraceni in the junior long course there are two other strong athletes present on Saturday in Legnano. In the men’s field, the presence of Simone Tanzilli, an athlete from Riccardi Milano resident in Arconate, is sure to be present in the 100m, while in the 100m master 35 the most popular name is that of Almost Donaldson sprinter currently working for Atletica Legnano who can boast a personal best of 10.79.

The joy of Atletica Legnano

Approximately 110 years old Legnano Athletics is one of the longest-standing companies in the area, Tommaso Mascioliformer athlete and now president of the association, a life spent on the slopes, paints us a picture with lights and shadows of his club: “The state of health of Atletica Legnano is good although it could be better, we are quite competitive with the women, a little less so with the men. Finding young people who want to do this sport is complicated, here it takes a lot of effort and the competition from other sports is notable, but we have some good athletes like the junior Emma Macchi who achieved the qualifying time for the Italian championship in the 100hs. I also underline the fact that Virginia Troiani often trains at the Via della Pace track, who in 2021 and 2022 wore the Italian champion shirt of the 4×400 meters relay twice and, again in 2022, won the bronze medal at the Oran Mediterranean Games in the 400 meter dash. She has two twin sisters, Serena and Alexandra, with whom she often runs one of the four legs of the 4 × 400 meter relay wearing the shirt of CUS Pro Patria Milano, their club since 2017.”.

A reference to the golden times of AL is inevitable, times in which its athletes were able to win an absolute Italian title with Marco Lavazza in the 200 meters in 1988 or like the title won in the junior category in 1978 with the 4×400 of which Tommaso Mascioli was part. Reviving the glories of those years is now an almost prohibitive undertaking, in fact the best talents are sold to companies with greater resources than those of the Legnano company, such as Bracco Milano with which a collaboration agreement was signed.

The invitation made by the president of Atletica Legnano is however to get closer to athletic practice, a sport where with its set of simple and instinctive movements, it is the ideal activity to introduce children to sport. By running, jumping or throwing, young athletes develop their motor skills, improve their perception of their body and manage to channel excess energy.
