CARRARA – ‘Families: from black and white to the colors of the rainbow’. This is the title of the meeting on Rainbow parenting and on internal and external discrimination in the family unit of LGBTQIA+ people scheduled for Friday 17 May starting at 5.30 pm in Piazza Gramsci. The initiative is organized on the occasion of the world day against homolesboabitransphobia by the Trecento60 association with the patronage of the Municipality of Carrara and with the collaboration of Oltre, the Aldo Mieli documentation centre, the Famiglie Arcobaleno association and the Re.a.dy network.

After the institutional greetings of the mayor Serena Arrighi and the deputy mayor and councilor for equal opportunities Roberta Crudeli there will be a performance by the soprano Luz Del Alba Rubia and, following, the speeches of the manager of the anti-violence center of the Municipality of Carrara ‘Woman calls woman’ Francesca Menconi, the psychologist Camilla Persico and the Rainbow Families association.

«We are happy to support this initiative which aims to talk, inform and raise attention on these issues. – explains the deputy mayor Roberta Crudeli – For our part, the attention towards all these issues is always very high, it is no coincidence that we strongly wanted to join the Re.a.dy network, a non-formal or symbolic gesture, but which represents a commitment concrete and important for the fight and overcoming any type of discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people. Joining the Re.a.dy network is much more than a declaration of intent, but it is an assumption of responsibility on the part of the administration, it is a recognition of the right attention to certain issues, all values that are absolutely in in line with the history and tradition of our city Carrara”.

«May 17, the international day against homolesbobiatransphobia, will be a moment to discuss and talk together about very current issues – explain the president and vice-president of the Trecento60 association Francesco Borgna and Silvia Barsotti Grandi –. With this event we want to shine a spotlight on various issues such as society’s discrimination towards rainbow families and LGBT+ people, both outside and inside the family unit.”
