The Anti-Crime Police Division of the Caltanissetta Police Headquarters executed the decree of confiscation of assets, issued by the Prevention Measures Section of the local Court, which became irrevocable following the ruling of the Supreme Court of Cassation, with which the definitive confiscation of the assets was ordered seized, for a value of approximately 500 thousand euros, attributable to a top exponent of the criminal organization called “cosa nostra – Emmanuello group”, operating in Gela.
The irrevocability of the confiscation decree allowed the State to definitively acquire real estate and registered movable assets which are the result of the reuse of the proceeds of the illicit activity. The execution of the ablative measure allowed the definitive acquisition, in favor of the State Treasury, of 27 assets including an individual sheep and goat breeding business and the entire business complex, also consisting of registered movable assets and numerous agricultural vehicles; 19 real estate, of which 4 buildings and 15 land; 3 registered movable property, a car, a truck and a motor vehicle and 4 financial reports, 2 savings deposits and 2 current accounts.
The aforementioned assets were subjected to seizure, in December 2019, by decree of the Prevention Measures Section of the local Court, on the proposal of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Caltanissetta, following the patrimonial investigations carried out by the staff of the Prevention Measures Office Assets of the Nissena Police Headquarters, which had verified that the value of the assets in the full availability of the member of the criminal association was disproportionate compared to the income declared by the same, ascertaining, therefore, that the assets now definitively acquired were the result of the illicit activities carried out and they constituted its reuse.
The 55-year-old man, under special surveillance by the PS, with an obligation to stay in the municipality of residence, with multiple convictions for various types of crimes, including receiving stolen goods, illegal possession and carrying of firearms, theft and illegal grazing, was sentenced to sentence of 8 years of imprisonment, as he was found guilty of the crime of mafia-type association, for having been part of the criminal association called “cosa nostra – Emmanuello group”, with a sentence of the Court of Caltanissetta in 2010, confirmed by the local Court of Appeal in 2012 and became irrevocable in 2013.
