CARPI – “Safe” pedestrian crossings and a traffic light system will be created at the intersection between the 468R, via della Constitution and via Chiesa di Cibeno: the “Design Guidance Document” has in fact been approved by management.
This is an intersection with a high density of traffic, both vehicular and cycle-pedestrian, as the 468R is a crossing axis in the north-south direction of the town of Carpi, «with the presence – we read in the technical report – of a semi-curve, approximately 80 m north of the intersection, which partially obstructs visibility, making it difficult for vehicles to enter from the two aforementioned side streets. The objective of the intervention is to regulate the entire intersection through the creation of a traffic light system that manages traffic in the various directions of the intersection.
Furthermore, the following are planned: the reshaping of the south-east flowerbed to allow those coming from Via Chiesa to easily enter Via della Constitution; the creation of a pedestrian path on the south side of via Chiesa, connected to the existing path to the north, with a new level pedestrian crossing in the middle of the street, and the restoration of the raised one at the landing point of the cycle/pedestrian path coming from the north , and near the intersection with via Canale di Cibeno, with the simultaneous elimination of the raised pedestrian crossing near the intersection with via Roosevelt.
It is estimated that construction could start after the summer and be completed within the year.
