Another nice initiative for the group of special kids coordinated by the cooperative “Social Presence” it took place Saturday 1 Junea morning dedicated to environmental awareness and ecology.
The scheduled appointment was for 9.30 am via della Pesca in a stretch of free beach where together with other volunteers and local associations coordinated by the group “Plastic Free Onlus” organizer of the initiative, the kids equipped with gloves and a net are trying their hand at cleaning the beach. Before starting the operations, gathered in a circle, the representative of the Plastic Free association explained how we should try to drastically reduce the use of plastic by also choosing unpackaged products in the supermarket… fresh fruit instead of fruit in trays or even eggs in cartons rather than with plastic packaging so as to be able to demotivate the producers themselves who use it.
The pollution caused by plastic which, as it deteriorates, transforms into tiny particles called micro plastics is now contaminating seas and fields and has become part of our food chain so much so that traces of it have even been found in the human placenta. The effects of the presence of micro plastics on our health are still unknown and are being examined by specialists but the phenomenon is certainly not positive and must absolutely be stopped.
