Robbery in Catania in a medical center, a 25-year-old man arrested

CATANIA – He threatened the employee of a rehabilitation center with a knife to have the proceeds delivered: on these charges the Police arrested a 25-year-old on April 10th, accused of aggravated robbery. The precautionary custody measure was requested by the Catania Prosecutor’s Office and approved by the investigating judge.

The investigation into the robbery, which occurred in June 2023, were carried out by the Catania Flying Squad, Countering Widespread Crime Section (“Falchi”). The investigators, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office, acquired video surveillance images of the area and managed to identify the scooter used by the robber during the crime.

Thanks to the images, investigators traced the identity of the robberwho on the afternoon of 13 June 2023 entered the medical rehabilitation center with his face covered and pointed a knife at an employee, forcing her to hand over the proceeds of 80 euros.

As stated in a statement from the Catania Police Headquarters, in consideration of the seriousness of the circumstantial framework, the Judge for preliminary investigations, at the request of the Public Prosecutor, ordered the application of the precautionary measure of house arrest against the suspect. The man, tracked down on the afternoon of 11 April 2024, was subjected to the required measure after the necessary formalities.
