Annunziata: “Let’s wash our hands”, hygiene day in pediatrics in Cosenza

COSENZA – “Let’s wash our hands” is the initiative planned in the pediatric departments of the Annunziata by the UU. OO Clinical Riskdirected by Dr. Ottavio Stefano and training directed by Dr. Annalisa Orlando, as part of World Hand Hygiene Day, promoted by WHO. At 10.00 am, tomorrow – Sunday 5 May – in the Pediatrics department of the city hospital, to young patientsbut the initiative is also aimed at external children, the correct methods of hand washing to prevent infections will be illustrated and the children will be invited, in a playful way, to a practical test, with verification on the scanner test, correct sanitisation and a reward the final.

The WHO campaign “SAVE LIVES: Clean you hands” – Save lives: sanitize your hands – aims to raise global awareness of the importance of hand hygiene as an effective tool for preventing infections and strengthening awareness and commitment of everyone, especially healthcare workers, through the dissemination of good practices. Small gestures done correctly contribute substantially to preventing the spread of pathogens.

Hand hygiene, in fact, is an extremely simple, fast and low-cost procedure, which however has a high importance in the healthcare sector. In healthcare and community settings, washing your hands correctly, with soap and water for at least 40-60 seconds, or, if not available, sanitizing them with a hydroalcoholic solution for at least 20-30 seconds, prevents the transmission of the microorganisms responsible for many infectious diseases, from the most frequent, such as flu and coldsand, to more severe ones, such as healthcare-associated infections (HAI). On World Hand Hygiene Day, the hospital has strategically chosen to focus its attention on children because through them it can also reach adults. The appointment is tomorrow at 10.00 in the Pediatrics department of the Annunziata Hospital
