As part of the activity to combat tax crimes ordered by the provincial command of the Guardia di Finanza of Avellino, under the orders of Colonel Salvatore Minale, the financiers of the Baiano tenancy have concluded, in recent days, a complex inspection activity against a company operating in the sector of wholesale trade of ferrous materials. The inspection activities made it possible to detect a huge VAT evasion of over 2 million euros carried out by a network of companies, based in the provinces of Avellino, Naples, Salerno, Bari, Rome, Forlì and Bergamo, fraudulently interposed between EU entities and national and dedicated to the systematic issuing and use of invoices for non-existent operations, for over 4 million euros. The investigations, initiated following the outcome of in-depth investigations relating to anomalous financial movements and then developed through the examination of the copious documentation acquired, including of a banking nature, the use of the databases in use by the Corps, as well as making use of the international cooperation system of mutual administrative assistance aimed at combating tax evasion, have made it possible to reconstruct the entire chain of subjects involved in the fraud system. The managers of the companies involved were referred to the competent judicial authority for tax crimes, provided for by the articles. 2 and 8 of Legislative Decree 74/2000 (issue and use of invoices for non-existent operations). The operation carried out by the Irpinia yellow flames is part of the broader and more complex device put in place by the Avellino Financial Police, aimed at strengthening the action to combat tax evasion, which constitutes a serious obstacle to economic development and undermines the relationship of trust between citizens and the state. For illicit conduct under scrutiny by the competent judicial authority, on the basis of the principle of presumption of innocence, the guilt of the persons subjected to investigation will be definitively ascertained only if an irrevocable sentence of conviction occurs.
