“Giovaninfesta”, the historic event dedicated to the young people of the Archdiocese of Agrigento which this year was held in Lucca Sicula, Villafranca Sicula and Burgio, three communities that were ready for the important provincial event, after months and months of preparations and preparatory meetings. Thousands of young people from parishes throughout the Diocese joyfully invaded the three small Agrigento municipalities that make up the Union of Municipalities “Alto Verdura and Gebbia”. In the presence of Archbishop Monsignor Alessandro Damiano, the three mayors, Salvatore Dazzo for Lucca, Gaetano Bruccoleri for Villafranca and Enzo Galifi for Burgio, hosted the event.

The young pilgrims were welcomed in Lucca Sicula in the morning for the first activities and reception. Then, on foot, everyone moved to Villafranca Sicula where Holy Mass was celebrated and lunch was enjoyed. Finally, still on foot, the transfer to Burgio for the conclusive moments and the final workshops in Piazza Umberto I. Among the most awaited moments of the youngest also the musical performance of Giovanni Cricca, coming from the talent show Amici on channel 5. During the The 2025 stage of the “Giovaninfesta” which will take place in Lampedusa was also announced on the day, a witness collected by the island’s mayor Filippo Mannino, who was also present at yesterday’s event.

The organization was impeccable from every point of view, in relation to the reception points, rest areas, emergency vehicles and strengthening of the local medical guards, activities supported by the three municipal administrations and the ASP of Agrigento. The Diocese, the local parishes led and coordinated by Don Gaspare Sutera, Don Davide La Corte and Don Salvatore Ingoglia, and the volunteers will coordinate the young people. Among those present also the archpriest of Sciacca Don Giuseppe Marciante.

“A moment of celebration and socialization that we are proud of – declared the mayors Dazzo, Bruccoleri and Galifi. Everything went well and the young people of the Diocese gave life to a show of colours, games, music, dances, emotions and considerable faith.

We thank all those who contributed to the success of the event, the municipal offices, the municipal staff, the police, the volunteers, the medical staff and the various parishes.
