The councilors of the majority group Centro per Cuneo decided to abandon the city council meeting on Monday 29 April due to the “need for a majority verification” following the confrontation between the coalition groups on the topic of the Crc Foundation.

The minority councilors asked for the council’s work to be suspended. “We are in the presence of the opening of a political crisis, it is a very serious act” said Giancarlo Boselli. The request to suspend the works was also requested by the other minority councilors, Paolo Armellini, Franco Civallero and Giuseppe Lauria, during the response of councilor Alessandro Spedale to Ugo Sturlese’s question regarding Villa Invernizzi. Sturlese himself underlined: “This is the opening of a political crisis, done in a contemptuous manner towards the council.”

In the debate on interpellations, a quorum is not required, however the minority councilors underlined the absence of the majority councilors of the Centro per Cuneo group and also of a good part of the Democratic Party.

The Centro per Cuneo council group communicated the decision to abandon the city council work with a note: “Today’s discussion between the coalition groups on the Crc Foundation issue has generated a situation that requires urgent majority verification. To avoid further misunderstandings, we await the convening of the majority coordination and we abandon the work of this city council”. The crux of the dispute is the appointments in the Crc Foundation.

The session was suspended and the group leaders’ conference was called.
