The Turin International Book Fair this year also saw the participation of the CPIA state school institute of Asti, which saw some of its students participate in the award ceremony of the XIX national literary competition Lingua Madre. For over a decade, CPIA students have enthusiastically participated in this competition, achieving success and recognition.

This year was no different, with a second prize conquered and two other stories that found a place among the publications.

The competition rewarded the stories of foreign women or women of foreign origin residing in Italy, who were able to express, through the Italian language, their relationship with identity, roots and the ‘other’ world. Among the winners, Shima Allahia young Iranian resident in Asti, distinguished herself by winning the Second Prize and the SPECIAL AWARD FOR THE REGIONAL WOMEN’S CONSULT OF PIEDMONT with his story “The Little Treasures”.

Shima, born in Tehran in 1987, boasts an international academic education and a career as a translator and English teacher. Her story has been praised for its ability to intertwine intelligence and tenderness, creating a dialogue between the objects of the country of origin and those of the new environment, in a narrative game that contracts space and time.

Other stories selected for publication in the anthology “Lingua Madre Duemilaventicinque” were those of Anila Hoxha And Mariia Aleksandrovaof Albanian and Russian origins respectively, who brought their stories of life and change to Italy.
