One hundred and five years celebrated with his colleagues after a long career.

The Palermo Carabinieri met Salvatore Galante, born in Montedoro in the province of Caltanissetta in 1919, retired Carabinieri Brigadier.

In his home, in the Oreto district of Palermo, surrounded by his family, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri, Brigadier General Luciano Magrini, brought a warm greeting and an affectionate embrace of the weapon to the centenary soldier, giving him a crystal lamp as a gift .

Salvatore Galante marries Mrs. Filomena and has two children Angela and Vincenzo.

He enlisted in the Carabinieri on 24 February 1939 and was transferred to the Verona legion. He retired after 35 years of service on 14 April 1974 with the appointment of deputy brigadier. He participated in the 2nd World War, he was mobilized with the 150th section at the disposal of the Acqui division destined for Albania with the task of “courier”. From Albania to Greece and from there, again with the Acqui division, he was transferred to the island of Corfu.

Returning from duty on his motorbike, due to an accident with a military car he suffered a fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg and following this he was repatriated to convalesce.

The colleagues of the section, who remained in Greece, (68 including the commander) all died in the massacre of Kefalonia. After about two months of convalescence, he was again assigned to Verona, from there mobilized with the 27th section to the Mantua division. Transferred to Asti, then to Turin, from there to Calabria to Marcellinara (Cz), then Nicastro, finally transferred to Palermo to the Bonsignore barracks, now the Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa barracks, as head of the car squad office until 1974.
