TURIN – The tenth edition of Keep Clean and Run with the first of seven plogging marathons scheduled. The eco-runner is underway Roberto Cavallopromoter of Keep Clean and Run, who accompanied by the ultra-runner and environmental activist Oliviero Alotto will travel over 300 km in a week, collecting the waste they encounter along the way and supporting and stimulating cleaning initiatives in the municipalities that have joined the event.
The two eco-runner they started at 8.30 am from Collegno and finished the marathon at 4.00 pm arriving in Piazza Palazzo della Città in Turin, 42.195 km of running also passing through the municipalities of Rivoli, Rivalta, Beinasco and Moncalieri.
Along the route, during the cleaning actions, another 286 people including runners, volunteers and school students joined the two eco-runners. The waste collected during the race by Roberto Cavallo and Oliviero Alotto was 18 kg, while the cleaning actions with the participation of students and citizens resulted in 61 kg of waste collected, separated into paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metals and undifferentiated. A quantity of waste equivalent to 118 kg of CO2 not emitted into the air.
The next stages will be those of Milan (18 April), Bologna (19 April), Florence (20 April), Perugia (21 April) and L’Aquila (22 April) and the final one in Rome (23 April), involving a total 40 municipalities. At the end of the event, the total quantity of waste collected and the equivalent kg of CO2 will be counted and communicated.
