The story is essentially that of the film: Billy Elliot, the boy protagonist, has a passion for dance and dreams of becoming a great dancer when he grows up. However, his father has other plans for him: to see him in the ring with boxing gloves. Billy then begins taking dance lessons in secret. Realizing the boy’s talent, his father finally decides to support him. The whole story is set in a difficult historical context, the British miners’ strike during Margaret Thatcher’s government.

Giulio Scarpati and Emiliano Fiasco

On stage, playing Billy’s father, Jackie Elliot, who does not accept his son’s desire to become a dancer and would like to see him dedicate himself to boxing, is the theatre, cinema and TV actor Giulio Scarpati. The actress and television presenter takes on the role of dance teacher Mrs. Wilkinson Rossella Bresciaand he is his lucky one debut in the world of musicals.

Ldirected by Massimo Romeo Piparo, who also signed the adaptation of the musical into Italian. Award-winning director, author and producer and one of the greatest theater and television successes of recent years, he has worked on productions of blockbuster musicals, dealing with titles such as “Tutti Insieme passionately”, “Cats”, “Mamma Mia!”, ” Evita”, “Tommy”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “My Fair Lady”, “Saturday Night Fever”, “Hairspray, Fat is Beautiful”, “Cinderella”, “The Full Monty”, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, “School of Rock”.

As Piparo states, “Billy Elliot is a masterpiece, a perfect formula: a story of courage, will, lightness, exactly a paradigm of what each of us needs today. Courage, will and lightness are the characteristics that can help us face this strange sudden change that is characterizing the third decade of the 2000s. Billy’s story has its roots in the 80s of the past millennium but some themes absolutely coincide with modern-day issues. Yet another demonstration that certain dynamics remain unchanged over time despite battles, sacrifices and social revolutions. But this little boy – as lost as he is visionary – with courage, will and lightness, will take the spectator of all ages by the hand and, between enchantment, irony and emotion, will make him fly.”
