Man sold illegal guns, parts at Syracuse park, investigators say

Syracuse, NY — A Syracuse man sold illegal guns and parts to a police source at a city park, federal investigators said.

Mergim Ademi, 24, was charged Friday with selling five guns, ammunition and an aftermarket trigger device, according to his complaint in federal court.

Ademi caught the attention of investigators in December after they began suspecting he was making illegal gun sales. US Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms investigations began surveilling Ademi’s home in January, according to his complaint.

During the week of March 17, Ademi sold a pistol and revolver, one of which was home-assembled, and a machine-gun conversion trigger device to a police source who was wearing recording devices, investigators said.

They met at Lewis Park for the sale, investigators said.

A week later, Ademi was recorded selling two pistols and ammunition to another police source, according to the complaint.

Searches for the pistols’ serial numbers showed they were reported stolen, investigators said.
