It’s a divorce between Antonio Bongiorni and Real Academy Lucca. The collaboration between Massa’s expert scouting man and president Claudio Polonia’s club ends here.

Bongiorni himself explains to TOSCANAGOL the reasons that led him to make this decision. “This morning, Tuesday 30 April, after a meeting with the president, we mutually decided to end the relationship, given the difficulties in carrying forward the program we had prepared since last year”.

Good morning (READ HERE) he arrived at Real Academy in January 2023, taking on the role of general manager. “From a sporting point of view, I believe that things went in the best possible way, but we cannot forget all the adversities experienced by the club this season. What happened seems to me to have been widely told. The fact is that at the moment in which Polonia he proposed that I now follow him in his management of Giovani Granata Monsummano, I didn’t feel like starting over from there. I thank all those who followed me in this adventure.”.

The basis of Bongiorni’s decision is the fact that Real Academy Lucca will in fact no longer prepare teams next season. “That’s how it is, I would have willingly stayed to continue what was built, unfortunately there are not the conditions to have the necessary structures to play football. We decided this after Polonia explained to me that it is useless to continue the activity in Lucca, not having availability of the facilities and to transfer everything to Monsummano. The relationship has been and will always remain cordial with Claudio, because he has always behaved excellently with me. It is right that he plans his future in the way he believes, far from Lucca, and I am free to make my choices”.

And what will Antonio Bongiorni do now? “From today I feel free to evaluate any serious proposal that comes to me. I believe I can still give a lot to football. My passion remains intact and my story is there for all to see”.

There will be rumors of an interest on the part of Lucchese: what is true? “I have not had any contact with the management. I live in Lucca and I would be happy to stay and work in this area. If Lucchese has a serious project for youth football and proposes it to me, I will evaluate it and I will be very happy. I have dressed I donated this player shirt to the Rossonero Museum under the Curva Ovest, I was also captain. Finishing my career here would be an honour.”.
