‘We want safe cities’. This is the slogan chosen by the Brunelleschi student collective of Afragola who, after an institute assembly, crossed the city to ask for a concrete commitment from the institutions against the rampant violence which, in the last few weeks alone, has caused four injuries, including including those linked to the shooting near the Church of San Giorgio where baptisms were being held.

Also supporting the demonstration were the Anti-Camorra Committee for Legality, Libera and the Student Union.
The procession ended in Piazza Municipio with a meeting with the mayor, Antonio Pannone, at which some city councilors were also present including Antonio Iazzetta, one of the promoters of the Anti-Camorra Committee for Legality, and the delegate for school planning of the metropolitan city , Marianna Salierno.

“Unfortunately, the same mistakes continue to be made, starting with the extraordinary actions of the police like the one last Saturday. They are very useful, but they are not enough. A wide-ranging program is needed which also includes actions that will have a real impact on the formation of the consciences of the new generations because it is becoming too easy to pick up a weapon and use it even for those who are foreign to Camorra circles” said Antonio Iazzetta for the which “at the moment no concrete answers have been received after last week’s Committee for Public Order and Security”.

Also asking for interventions that have a real impact are Jacopo Re, spokesperson for the Brunelleschi Students’ Collective, for whom “it is not enough to militarize the areas frequented by young people, who must be given concrete answers which also involve better use of the many assets confiscated from the Camorra available to the Municipality of Afragola”.

For Re “we need actions that change a social scenario in which it is easier to find a boy with a weapon rather than with a book and that allow us to stop the continuous migration of the new generations discouraged by the social and economic environment in which they find themselves living and, perhaps, starting to work.”

The Mayor recalled the results achieved after the shooting a few days ago, starting with the Committee for public order and safety which was held in the city with the presence of the Prefect who guaranteed greater attention for Afragola and for the whole city. the area north of Naples, announcing an upcoming meeting of the Committee for public order and safety to be held in the Prefecture with the security situation in the northern metropolitan area on the agenda.
