A free ticket to the Botanical Garden from Florence. L’tribute to Repubblica readers arrives on the occasion of the presentation of the book “Ateneo 100. The treasures of the Florentine university museums”, which will be distributed as a gift with the Tuscan edition of Repubblica on May 30th. The event to present the volume will be held on May 27th at 12 in the botanical garden of Via Micheli, better known as the Garden of Simples and part of the University Museum System (Sma), the network of museums of the University of Florence.

They will speak at the meeting the rector Alessandra Petrucci And the president of the Sma Marco Benvenuti together with the author, the Repubblica journalist Elisabetta Bertithe editor-in-chief of the Florentine editorial team Fabio Galati And Stefano Mancusoneurobiologist and professor at the University of Florence.

Before the presentation, at 11 am, for 25 Repubblica readers it will be possible to enter the Botanical Garden for free for an exclusive visit, since Monday is normally closed to the public, and walk in the sixteenth-century garden admiring the collections which include the extraordinary variety of plants and flowers that have come to Florence from all over the world, as well as the monumental trees and rare species preserved in the two greenhouses present, the hot and the cold.

This opportunity will be reserved for the first 25 readers who Thursday 23 May, from 3pm to 5pm, they will call the number 055/506871: by leaving their name and surname they will obtain a free entry ticket. And the possibility of attending the presentation of the book “Ateneo 100. The treasures of the Florentine university museums”, in whose creation the University of Florence collaborated: an agile and punctual guide to the seven museums that since 2018 have been part of the museum system of university: lin Specola, the Paleontological, the Anthropological, Villa Galileo, Villa La Quiete, Botany and, indeed, the Botanical Garden.

In each of them, collections of exceptional value are preserved, including natural, archaeological and paleontological finds, ancient artefacts and works of art, and they all tell the story of Florence “capital” of scientific thought on a global level. A prestigious history and yet not always well known by Florentines, for which the centenary of the University of Florence and the recent reopening of the Specola provide a unique opportunity for rediscovery.
