Italy-Tunisia, a relationship of mutual interest

“I am happy to be here once again, this is my fourth visit in about a year, confirming the new relationship that with Saied we have established between two nations, Italy and Tunisia, which are already historically very close friends and very close. It is a relationship that has also been strengthened through the personal relationship between me and Saied, and it is also a relationship that is based on a completely new approach, as equals to equals, which starts from the mutual interest of our nations”, declared the president of the Council, Giorgia Meloni.

The Mattei Plan

“It is on the basis of this approach – explained the Prime Minister – that I am here together with a large delegation from the Italian government (the delegation is composed among others of Minister Piantedosi, Minister Bernini and Deputy Minister Cirielli, ed) to sign some important agreements with Tunisia which illustrate how this bilateral relationship is clearly political but also made of very concrete steps, of bricks through which to build our ideas. And it demonstrates once again how much the collaboration with Tunisia is absolutely a priority for Italy from many points of view and is also a piece of the work that Italy is carrying out with the Mattei Plan to build with the nations of the African continent cooperation on an equal basis and finally beneficial to all. It is a new approach that we have given life to and on which we are also working at EU level.”

Other agreements will be signed in the coming weeks

“Many other agreements will be signed in the coming weeks. The Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano, the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara will be present here in Tunisia, so there is a constant presence of the Italian government. They are very happy with the upcoming visits which will lead to other agreements confirming a very important strategic relationship to which Italy places one of its top priorities, and which sees us at a bilateral but also multilateral level, working together at 360 degrees”, concluded Meloni .
