PERUGIA – Alleanza Verdi Sinistra is preparing for the electoral round in the capital on 8 and 9 June. The names of the candidates who will be part of the list in support of Vittoria Ferdinandi’s race were revealed at the Sala della Vaccara. The national secretary of the Italian Left, Nicola Fratoianni, inaugurated the red-green formation. Also present were the outgoing MEP Massimiliano Smeriglio and the national vice-president of the Football Coaches Association, Pierluigi Vossi, both candidates in the Central Italy constituency to obtain a seat in Brussels with Avs.
Administrative and European, as explained by the regional secretary of the Italian Left Fabio Barcaioli, go hand in hand because they are two elections “which increasingly concern local aspects”. During the meeting, the united path of the environmentalist world and the left which has now been undertaken for many months, which focuses on issues such as public and sustainable mobility, the municipal minimum wage for public procurement, the open schools project, the creation of the international women’s house. Fundamental themes also taken up by the speeches of some candidates in the municipal elections. Secretary Fratoianni spoke of a “beautiful list, young and full of women”, adding: “This is not an exercise in style because the protagonism of women means the search for another idea of politics. Gender protagonism is a condition and an achievement.” According to the number one of Si for the municipal elections of Perugia, a small miracle was built with the unity of the progressive front to create an alternative and defeat a terrible right which with ministers and politicians still struggles to pronounce words like anti-fascism and resistance ». Finally, for Fratoianni, Vittoria Ferdinandi «will be a splendid mayor. You needed – he underlined – a breath of fresh air for this city which has so much potential and which the right has depressed in recent years. In short, hope for a city that deserves more after 10 years of the right.”
