Little girl gives up communion gifts: she donates money to the needy

Waiver of gifts and at wedding favors for his first Communion donating the money to charitable initiatives, in particular to buy ice creams to the needy. The protagonist of this beautiful example of generosity and civic sharing is Carolina, a 10-year-old girl from Lecce, who has fallen in love with the inclusion project that the Salento Community Foundation is carrying out with “Defriscu”, an artisanal social ice cream shop.

Inside the restaurant, opened in via Palmieri, in the historic center of Lecce, special aspiring ice cream makers from the social promotion association We work, young people with Down syndrome, creators of a new ice cream flavored with “social redemption and happiness”. Carolina, after having discovered the ice cream shop together with her parents, chose to give up the gifts she would have received (including the money that the family would have had to spend on wedding favors) expressing to her mother her desire to allocate that money to support the activities of the social ice cream shop and the Foundation. With the amount obtained from Carolina’s renunciation, therefore, the Salento Community Foundation will create coupons for the purchase of ice creams to be distributed with the help of Caritas of Lecce to those needy people who often cannot afford even this small luxury in hot summer days.
