It takes more time to recover the “building”. Bar, in the eastern area of Naples. Space, part of the larger Pala-Dennerlein in via delle Repubbliche Marinare, is at the center of work by Arus, the regional Universiade agency for sport, but the damage caused by vandals and the wear and tear of the structure make it necessary to postpone the time with repercussions also on the tender launched by the Municipality to choose the private individual who will take care of you maxi-gym.

Last March, in fact, Palazzo San Giacomo has started the process to entrust the management of the Pala-Dennerlein arena for a period of four years, possibly renewable for another four. In any case, the concession would begin only after the conclusion of the redevelopment and after the concrete handover of the property to the municipal administration by Arus which was expected “by June 2024”. In reality, as reported by Il Mattino in recent days, the Barra building has been surrounded by a construction site fence but is still essentially in critical conditions.

Arus, in fact, communicated to the Municipality that the “executive, logistical and environmental difficulties” made it necessary to “technical variations compared to the project forecasts and that, consequently, the executive timetable was revised”. In other words, the times are extended: «The completion of the works and the subsequent handover of the areas to the municipality of Naples it has been postponed to September 30″, specify the regional agency.

The postponement – three months longer than the initial framework – also has repercussions on the Municipality’s tender which naturally expires on 6 May. In this way the eventual successful bidder “could find himself in the position of not being able to take full possession of the structure following the signing of the contract for an excessively long time”, we read in the documents of Palazzo San Giacomo which has decided to extend the time available for economic operators who want to participate in the procedure. For this reason the “Sports Activities Promotion” Service has chosen to grant a thirty-day extension for the submission of offers.

The news – certainly positive for those who intend to put forward a proposal to win the management of part of the public good – worries residents, athletes and those who have long hoped for the return of the sports center to the community. Definitely legitimate fear after the numerous acts of vandalism and thefts by unknown persons who, in recent months, have “visited” the structure several times Bar. The sports facility, in fact, was exposed to vandals and criminals despite repeated public complaints for the damage caused to the swimming pool area which had been redeveloped for the 2019 Universiade and then, in fact, rendered unusable after just a few months. There remains, therefore, the need to ensure constant monitoring of the hub which, five years after its partial recovery, remains denied to most.
