It was the beginning of the season, it was a Lecce launched in the standings with D’Aversa on the bench and Nikola Krstovic in attack, constant danger for all opposing defenses.
That golden age
Lecce-Sassuolo in the first round it was played on Friday 6 October, the eighth day of the championship and the second match in a row at Via Del Mare after the resounding 4-0 defeat against Napoli.
The Giallorossi, despite a good first half, ended the first half of the game trailing in score, due to Domenico Berardi’s goal from a penalty kick, relentless from eleven metres.

Crisis of goals, not of performances
Since that day, Nikola Krstovic, despite playing regularly, has scored only one more goal, in Genoa, making the most of a deflection by the opposing defender. Then, against Frosinone and Salernitana, two decisive touches from the goalkeeper and defender tainted his conclusions, transforming his goals into own goals.
A long fast which, at first, also meant a drop in performance, with the Montengrino attacker who seemed out of the game and not very much within Mr. D’Aversa’s tactical schemes. Then, especially in the last period and with the arrival of Gotti, something changed and Krstovic returned to being the dangerous attacker at the beginning of the season, a real glue between the midfield and attack departments and, on some occasions, also offensive playmaker.
From Sassuolo to Sassuolo, after serving the unfair disqualification suffered at San Siro against Milan. In the next 6 matches Nikola must find his way to scoring again at all costs. With the hope that he will also be able to score some that are decisive for Lecce’s salvation.
