The director of the Royal Palace of Caserta, Maffei: The vineyard highlights the importance for the Museum of activating a healthy public-private relationship in the management of cultural landscapes. Caputo: “An itinerary dedicated to historic vineyards”. Tenuta Fontana: “Our Pallagrello Nero is a community brand”

VERONA – Presented at Vinitaly OroRe Nero, the red wine from the Vigna del Re del Bosco di San Silvestro of the Royal Palace of Caserta produced by Tenuta Fontana. At the most important wine fair in the world, the latest addition to the vineyard recovered inside the Vanvitellian Complex, Museum of the Ministry of Culture, was shown to the national and international market.

The Vigna della Reggia di Caserta also proved to be an opportunity to share a common strategy on the historic vineyards of Campania and beyond. The Campania regional councilor for Agriculture Nicola Caputo, starting from the Vigna della Reggia di Caserta, proposed creating an itinerary on the historic vineyards of Campania. An idea shared by the director of the Royal Palace of Caserta, Tiziana Maffei, also because for some time now the Royal Palace has supported and promoted the idea of agricultural production desired by the Bourbons as a symbolic point of reference of the collective agri-food imagination, not only Italian, combining history and culture. “Culture/cultivation in differing in a single vowel maintains the common root of cultivating, of taking care – explained Maffei – of our living environment, of our landscapes, of a heritage that we must safeguard in a contemporary key. The Royal Palace has long worked to involve the private sector, enhancing the productive identity of the Bourbon sites. A journey started in 2017 by the independent museum, pursued with tenacity and a lot of work, which could only lead here. Also an opportunity to open a reflection by building possible alliances towards common paths”. “Our next appointment on the promotion of wine within the regional control room – said the Campania councilor Caputo – will be the one dedicated to itineraries and we can promote the idea of an itinerary dedicated to historic vineyards: Caserta, Pompeii, Carditello”. An idea also taken up by all the other speakers present at the table: the owner of Tenuta Fontana, Maria Pina Fontana; the winemaker Francesco Bartoletti; the spin doctor Luigi Ferraiuolo; the president of the Caserta Chamber of Commerce Tommaso De Simone; the president of the Vitica Consortium Cesare Avenia; the president of the Campania Fisar Carlo Iacone. The comparison aimed precisely at bringing to Vinitaly not only the new arrival, Pallagrello Nero OroRe Nero, but also the discussion on historic vineyards. “A symbolic reference point of great charm and communicative power – underlined Ferraiuolo – when the territories have high quality but small-scale production, capable of allowing producers to compete on national and international markets thanks to the creation of a brand”. Mariapina Fontana highlighted how the undertaking was titanic: “We didn’t know if we would ever get this far – explained the young entrepreneur – but returning to Vinitaly with OroRe Nero is a great joy. Our path, the intent of the company has always been, is to decline the business activity with the collective growth of the territory. OroRe, the Vigna della Reggia, are a community brand: every improvement is a step forward in favor of the wines of Campania Felix”. A step, that of growth, also highlighted by the president of the Chamber of Commerce Tommaso De Simone: “When we began the adventure with the provincial wine shop in 2014 there were around twenty companies – says De Simone – now they have become many. This is our mission, to help local companies grow, to network them, to accompany them, so that Terra di Lavoro can grow”.
