LIVORNO From May 1st with Labor Day with Bobo Rondelli & co, continuing until June in Fortezza Nuova we celebrate the beginning of spring with a dense and diversified program of events. The initiatives that will populate the month of May are different and multifaceted, distributed between the indoor and outdoor spaces of the magical historical and landscape context that the jewel of Livorno offers to the public.
FIRST OF MAY WORKERS’ DAY
On May 1st we start with the workers’ day, organized by CGIL province of Livorno and CGIL Toscana, in collaboration with The Cage/Xlr Produzioni and Fortezza Village.
Concerts, DJ sets, street food, bars, games area, debate space and trade stands for citizens. A program yet to be revealed in its entirety which immediately presents itself as a day of leisure, fun and reflection. In fact, it will be an opportunity to talk about employment issues, reiterate the importance of defending workers’ rights and relaunch the battle for health and safety.
The event will also coincide with the inauguration of the concerts on the main stage of Fortezza Nuova: the Arena del Magnifico. Bobo Rondelli will play with The madmen of the junkyards, a popular music band from Maremma. Before them, Luarte Project will perform: the jazz musician Chiara Pellegrini together with other cosmopolitan multi-instrumentalists in a word fusion key. Opening, Unchained will revisit Quentin Tarantino’s soundtrack repertoire.
It will be a May 1st event open to all and with free admission. The complete program of the party, which will begin at 11 am, will be communicated in the coming weeks by the organizers.
Throughout the summer, under the direction of Toto Barbato (The Cage/XLR Produzioni), national and international artists will also take turns on the main stage, such as the 2000s party Teenage Dream (7 June), the band Bnkr44 (8 June) fresh from her performance at the Sanremo Festival, the Australian folk singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd (August 8) and many names yet to be announced.

European Sommelier School, Livorno delegation
On 4 and 5 May, Medicea returns in its third edition. The tasting event, focused on wine, local products and the historic nations present in the city, will take place between the arch room, the oven room and the garden of the walls.
With the aim of representing an international epicentre, where lovers of food and wine and wine tourism can celebrate the city’s multiculturalism, the event, organized by the European Sommelier School, delegation from Livorno in collaboration with Fortezza Village, with the patronage of the Tuscany Region , Province of Livorno and Maremma and Tyrrhenian Chamber of Commerce, will host the fruit of the local culinary tradition and of the Jewish communities, Maronite and Turkish, Dutch German, Armenian, Corsican, French, Greek, English, Portuguese. A sensorial journey into agri-food production will offer an overview of richness and diversity, with a focus on the themes of integration and hospitality, which have always been characteristic of Labronicity.
The event will officially open on Saturday 4 May at 5pm, with free entry, with a glass costing 15 euros, which will also offer the possibility of accessing specific masterclasses.

Tuscany Medieval Festival returns on 10, 11 and 12 May.
The event, one of a kind, which combines music, entertainment, historical re-enactment, markets and gastronomy, will still take place in Fortezza Nuova after the extraordinary public response. Historical reenactment associations, artists and performers from all over Italy and abroad will be present. The project is developed in collaboration with Cers – European Consortium for historical re-enactments, Wavents, Crazy Revolution Events, Fortezza Village, Municipality of Livorno, LEM Foundation, Tuscany Region, City of Livorno Rowing Competitions, Magna Carta, English Heritage and Ministry of Culture. In 2022, the first edition recorded more than 6 thousand visitors in 2 days and the second was able to maintain the standards, despite the bad weather, in 2023. With the target of 10 thousand participants to be achieved, this year it is extended to 3 days, with an offer expanded in both quality and quantity of content.

On 24, 25 and 26 May Vinokilo arrives in Fortezza Nuova: the largest vintage clothing pop-up shop in Europe. With the mission of giving garments a second life, the famous green and sustainable brand, founded by Robin Baiser, is present in 14 countries and promotes second-hand clothing as an alternative to fast fashion. Fashion lovers will be able to choose from the most famous brands from the 60s to 2000s in all sizes, from xxs to plus size, which can be purchased by weight. Popular among the new generations and a symbol of modern thinking that prefers clothing from the past to mass marketing, the shop is characterized by its itinerant nature. In fact, it opens for a few days in some European locations with highly attractive initiatives. Details to participate will be provided in the coming weeks.
