Poverty alarm Umbria, Bori, Censis report reveals drop in income

Umbria Poverty Alarm – Tommaso Bori, regional secretary of Democratic party, expressed strong concern about the economic situation of Umbria, referring to the recent data released by Censis in the report “The State of the Union”. This study, which analyzes the social geography of Europe in view of the elections, has placed Umbria among the areas with the greatest economic difficulties, highlighting a significant reduction in per capita income.

According to the Censis report, Umbria is the second Italian region for the greatest decrease in per capita income, with a worrying drop of 14.7%. Not only this data they represent numbers on paper, but they reflect the real condition of hardship experienced by many Umbrian citizens, aggravated by policies which, according to Bori, have failed to adequately support them.

Bori openly criticizes the current one administration of the centre-right for having exacerbated the economic difficulties, accusing it of capitalizing on the fears of the weakest and most vulnerable sections of society, which are on the increase. The PD secretary emphasizes the need for a strategy that not only addresses immediate emergencies but also aims at a restructuring of the economic and social approach.

He underlines the urgency of a I commit renewed for a stronger and more inclusive Europe, which can be truly close to the needs of the weakest and most marginalized citizens. Bori therefore calls for a policy that is capable of reacting effectively to the current socio-economic challenges, promoting a recovery that takes into account the needs of all sectors of the population.

Bori’s vision for the future of Umbria includes a strengthening of population support policies and a long-term commitment to rebalancing inequalities. This vision it opposes what it perceives as a short-sighted and insensitive management of regional resources, which has left the most fragile strata of society behind. The current crisis, highlighted by the Censis report, requires a decisive change of direction and a policy that knows how to innovate and include, restoring hope and possibilities to a region that risks losing further pace compared to the rest of Italy and Europe.
