University of Verona increasingly international

The drive towards internationalization continues at the University of Verona which, after having initiated relationships with numerous international academic institutions in these four years of mandate, has given rise to a new synergy with the universities of Chile.

On the morning of April 15, the magnificent rector Pier Francesco Nocini welcomed Ennio Augusto Vivaldi Véjar, ambassador of Chile in Italy, former university professor, surgeon specialized in sleep medicine and rector of the University of Chile between 2014 and 2022. Also present were Felice Gambin, rector’s delegate for Internationalization and Aldo Rozzi Marin, honorary consul of Chile in Vicenza.

The objective of the day is to establish new collaborative relationships between the University of Verona and the Chilean ones for the mobility of students, teachers and also for teaching collaboration, the sharing of research projects with feedback in the area and beyond.

There are numerous areas of educational and scientific interest that unite the University of Verona and the Chilean universities, starting with oenology, medical systems engineering and computer engineering, economics and human sciences.

“In these years of my mandate – underlined the magnificent rector Nocini – we have created 30 agreements with Italian and foreign universities. Among these are some universities in South America that allow us to support the mobility of Univr students and postgraduates who wish to spend a period of their training in foreign universities. These exchanges are not only an educational opportunity, but also a very important life opportunity for our young men and women who, enriched by their experience abroad, can return to Verona to complete their studies and enter an extremely attractive productive context. and competitive, where you can put international knowledge and skills into practice. The start of this collaboration will allow us to chart a further path for their future and new opportunities for the future of our university and the territory”.

The next step of this new synergy will be a event, the date is being defined, organized in Verona in collaboration between the university, the Chilean embassy in Italy and the Pablo Neruda Foundation for the celebrations of 100 years since the publication of the “20 love poems and a desperate song ” that Pablo Neruda wrote at the age of 19.

“I thank the magnificent rector Nocini for welcoming us,” he said Ambassador Vivaldi Véjar – because thanks to this meeting we will give life to a collaboration for university mobility, teaching and research with great results in the numerous areas in which Chilean universities and the University of Verona are complementary. Universities in Chile are the basis on which our country has developed. Our universities look to the future of Chile, a future that passes through the education of our young men and women. What we are interested in is giving training to our students that is of high quality, highly professional and usable in the world of work and we have great expectations from this collaboration with the University of Verona”.
