Anastasìa: “We have always highlighted the isolation of the prison from the city fabric and the resulting inconveniences”

“Since I took office, we have always highlighted the isolation of the Velletri prison from the city fabric, with the consequent inconvenience for the families of the prisoners and the staff of the institution. The commitment made today by Trenitalia, thanks to the solicitation of the prison administration and the availability of the Region, is a first significant result, which I hope will be followed quickly by the project hoped for by the mayor of Velletri to connect the institution also to the Campoleone station , and therefore to the Rome-Naples line”. Thus the Guarantor of people subjected to measures restrictive of personal freedom of the Lazio Region, Stefano Anastasìa, at the presentation of the new train+bus connection to reach the prison from Velletri station.
The project, which promotes the interconnection between the different transport vectors – railway service and local public service – was presented on Monday 29 April in the Velletri station in the presence of Fabrizio Ghera, councilor for Mobility, transport, protection of the territory, cycle of waste, state property and heritage of the Lazio Region, Ascanio Cascella, mayor of Velletri, Giovanni Russo, Head of the Penitentiary Administration Department (Dap) and Fausto Del Rosso, regional director of Trenitalia Lazio.
The collaboration between Trenitalia, the parent company of the passenger hub of the Fs Italiane Group, and Schiaffini Travel Sp A satisfies the mobility needs not only of the workers of the Velletri prison but also of the families of prisoners. The agreement provides for the harmonization of timetables between trains and buses and the possibility for customers to purchase the ticket in a single solution through the Trenitalia purchase channels, choosing ‘Casa Circondariale Velletri’ as the arrival or departure destination.
There are 15 bus connections on weekdays from Monday to Saturday (seven from Velletri station towards the prison and eight in the opposite direction). The stopping point of the Velletri station is in the square in front, while the stopping point of the prison is on the Cisterna-Campoleone 97 provincial road.
