Canicatti Web News – Train connections between Messina, Catania and Syracuse are increasing

the regional Trenitalia (lead company of the Passenger Hub of the FS Group), in agreement with the Sicilian Region, which commissioned the service, will introduce new regional connections to better meet the mobility needs of commuters and tourists moving between Messina, Catania and Syracuse . Furthermore, some services on the Messina-Catania-Syracuse line will undergo timetable and route changes. In detail, from Monday to Friday, 2 new connections are planned from Catania Centrale to Giarre-Riposto and 3 instead from Giarre-Riposto to Catania Centrale.

A new train will run from Catania Fontanarossa Airport to Giarre-Riposto and 4 further connections (in both directions) between Taormina-Giardini and Catania Centrale. From Monday to Saturday, a pair of trains will be introduced between Catania Centrale and Siracusa and a new connection from Catania Centrale to Catania Fontanarossa Airport. Finally, on public holidays, there are 4 additional connections between Messina Centrale and Syracuse and 4 between Catania Centrale and Syracuse. Furthermore, timetable and route changes are expected for some Regional connections always on the Messina-Catania-Syracuse route: R 12954 modifies the station of origin: it leaves from Syracuse instead of Catania Centrale; R 5697 changes the destination station: arrives in Syracuse instead of Catania Fontanarossa Airport; R 12989 changes the destination station: it arrives in Syracuse instead of Catania Centrale; R 12955 changes the destination station: arrives in Catania instead of Catania Fontanarossa Airport. Finally, trains R5392, R5396, R12894, R12947, R12952, R12960, R12968, R12981, R12992, R12995 will undergo timetable and route changes and train R 22078 from Catania Fontanarossa Airport to Catania Centrale is cancelled.
