This latest change adds to the many works completed in recent months. Formula 1 and Liberty Media have been clear, updates to the circuit are needed in order to continue to be part of next season’s calendars.

For this reason, after modifying some curves such as the Piratella, the Variante Alta or the Acque Minerali, the organizers decided to resurface some areas of the racetrack. “We are always careful to use innovative technologies with reduced environmental impact“, declared Pietro Benevenuti, General Director of the Imola Circuit. “This is why we decided to use this type of asphalt from the Rivazza entrance to the paddock“.

It is an asphalt produced in Italy and the result of years of research, as explained by Federica Giannattasio, CEO of Iterchimica Spa. “The objective is to give sustainability to road paving. This is why we are very happy with the collaboration with the Imola Autodrome. We will reduce emissions by around 60% thanks to the reduction in the amount of plastic and the presence of recycled materials.

We want our racetrack to become an example for other tracks“, Benevenuti then added. “Asphalt is one of the main protagonists of our activities and for this reason we want it to be as innovative and sustainable as possible”.
