Comic(on)off invades the city from 4 April to 11 June, making Naples once again the protagonist of the international comics and pop culture scene, with events, exhibitions, screenings and performances that are no longer a simple corollary of the Comicon (25-28 April).
Promoted and financed by the municipality of Naplesthe event will host cartoonists, writers, illustrators, actors and musicians in the most diverse cultural spaces of the city, from the Institut Français to the Academy of Fine Arts to the Darwin Dohrn Museum, involving entities active in the social sector such as Casa Mehari and Le Kassandre.
“The Manfredi administration enthusiastically welcomed the invitation to support the project, which from this year, for the first time, also arrives at Palazzo Cavalcanti, a true house of culture of the Municipality of Naples” declares the policy coordinator cultural Sergio Locoratolo who presented the billboard with Comicon patron Claudio Curcio and Ferdinand Tozzi. Among the first appointments, April 4 -5 at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples-Foqus and at the Modernissimo “In the name of Stan Lee – Marvel between comics, cinema and new media” with Diego of the Well and the experimental cartoonist’s “Deep Me” and “Deep It” exhibition Marc-Antoine Mathieu at the French Institute. At the Cervantes anthology of the works of the Catalan cartoonist Laura Perez Vernetti. From April 24th Dario Samson at the Zoological Station he transforms his music into images with “A Poetry Sketchbook / the expo”.
On May 7, in Sala Assoli, Lina Ehrentraut and Giordis Stories of the Squash collective of a “reading performance with talk”.
A selection of covers for the 75th anniversary of pocket Mickey Mouse will be on display at the Order of Journalists. The Comix school is the protagonist with “Polpa Napoletana” or Naples through its main icons; from 19 April at the Capodimonte Museum presents an exhibition on comics dedicated to the Battle of Pavia represented on the Arazzi D’Avalos and at Pio Monte ‘Mud and ash’ on the Quattro Giornate. Desina, an independent festival of graphics and visual cultures, will begin on April 18th.
Also on the circuit are the Crime Festival, the Spaccanapoli Prize, appointments in Camerota, Quarto, and in May events in Paris with Sansone (who will be in Cavalcanti on 5 June), and Berlin (Calvino’s centenary).
