Fiesole, in Loppiano preparatory meeting towards the Trieste Social Week

«At the Heart of Democracy» is the theme of the diocesan meeting which will be held on April 21st, starting at 4 pm, at the Loppiano Auditorium and which is part of the preparation process of the diocese of Fiesole for the Catholic Social Week scheduled in Trieste from 3 to 7 July. «At the heart of Democracy» is in fact the theme of the Social Week of Catholics in Italy, a periodic event of the Catholic Church in which the faithful meet to compare their experiences, share perspectives and make proposals for common action for the future of the country.

At the Loppiano Auditorium, among the main speakers, in addition to Bishop Stefano, there will be Professor Stefano Zamagni, from the School of Civil Economy, to deal with the theme of democracy, Daniela Ropelato for that of participation and Laura Di Francesco, from Policoro, who he will explain the route to Trieste and back from there.

Ropelato, professor at the Sophia University Institute, underlines that “young people are the preferential interlocutor”. An open dialogue is also fundamental for the involvement of young people, who, as Ropelato reminds us, tend to “walk away as soon as they perceive an air of closure”. Just as this year the Week in Trieste will be open to anyone who wishes to participate – and not just to delegates from bodies, associations and institutions – the meeting on 21 April will also be open. Indeed, the invitation is also extended to the administrators of the municipalities of Valdarno and nearby areas, precisely because «if the Catholic Church has decided to take democracy and participation seriously, dialogue will also have to take place with those who have already chosen politics and clash daily with its crudest policies.”
