Viterbo – We receive and publish – I am writing to tell what happened to my son on April 27th.
After many denials out of fear that something would happen as we have been hearing for some time, in the center of our city, in the end I give in to yet another legitimate request from my son to take a walk in the afternoon, in the center, with his cousin and another friend .
It’s only an hour, I tell myself, there are three of them… what do you want to happen? I repeat to myself that there are many people around…
I tell myself that I have to stay calm, always with this exaggerated apprehension… I repeat myself.
But then my son calls me and hands me the policeman, who intervened after my son and his friends called 112. At that moment, on the phone, my heart stops for a moment.
I run to the center, everyone is fine but scared, terrified. Three boys attacked them, threatened them with death, and tried to steal their phones.
Luckily they had the speed and clarity to call the police immediately, but it was already late..
With the help of two teenage girls, whom I thank infinitely, they managed to escape and avoid the worst.
We hug, this time it went well, this time… I tell myself.
But next time? I don’t know if there will be… My son doesn’t want to go out anymore…
The attack took place in one of the alleys that connects Piazza delle Erbe with Piazza del Sacrario. As a mother, I advise kids to always stay in crowded places in case of possible danger or heated discussion with someone. Better to avoid isolated alleys and stay in busy areas, so you can ask for help more easily.
