The University, the Tuscany Region, the regional company for the right to university education, the Municipality of Florence and Autolinee Toscane have decided to extend the agreement stipulated last autumn. Discounted season tickets are now valid until September 30th

The validity of discounted passes for local public transport for students of the University of Florence has been extended from 20 July to 30 September. “The initiative – underlines the rector Alessandra Petrucci in a note – has been appreciated by the students of the University: over 18 thousand have taken out a subscription in the current academic year at discounted and modulated rates according to their ISEE. In thanking bodies and institutions for achieving this objective, I would like to remind you that the University has combined this action with a facilitation measure for access to subscriptions to public extra-urban and railway services”.

For the regional councilor for mobility Stefano Baccelli “in the wake of the very high participation recorded in recent months, we enthusiastically confirm our support for the initiative of the University of Florence. By extending this agreement, which allows University students to access extremely discounted travel rates, we certify the concreteness of our commitment to promoting the use of local public transport. The result is a great team effort by the Region, University and Municipality.”

Applause from the regional councilor for universities and the right to study Alessandra Nardini: “the right to study is a pillar of regional policies and the extension of subscriptions at a discounted rate in Florence is good news, for which I thank all the bodies and institutions involved.” “We are satisfied with the participation of over 18,300 university students in the annual urban public transport season ticket and with the possibility of extending the deadline from July to September,” declared the municipal councilor for mobility and public transport Stefano Giorgetti.
