TREVISO – A multi-event formula created by several hands and designed to activate new collaborations, co-planning the 2025 edition of the Festival. From 8 to 11 May 2024the network of the Treviso City for Women Festival organizes public debates, book presentations and shows. This series of events, coordinated this year by Progetto Donne Veneto, will be preceded on May 3 from the presentation of the book “Le vie delle donne 2” (Antiga editions).

Why one “City for women

Strengthened by the experience acquired in recent years, it is considered useful to talk further about “City for women” and the reason is simple: it is necessary to rethink the places where we live to make them more inclusive, safe, accessible to everyone, where there are spaces suited to the different needs of the population and where it is possible to spend one’s free time and bring your contribution. The presence of a gender perspective in city policies is therefore a fundamental resource to be able to bring about the necessary change which, among other things, takes future generations into maximum account.

Knowing, enhancing and promoting women’s realities, commissions and bodies that work for an equal community allows us to share good practices, new challenges and creating a system. As he clarifies Francesca Neronipresident of Progetto Donne Veneto Aps, “the objective of world caféscheduled for Thursday 9 May and the meeting with citizens on Saturday 11 May together with women’s associations, is to strengthen and intensify a network of collaborations between the bodies responsible for equal opportunities and create an opportunity for discussion that will be able to bring new requests and frame needs and desires of a city that grows in gender equality: a road map of good practicesystematizing the various actions underway with the demand for services and initiatives”.

Professional associations, companies and unions with their commissions for equal opportunities have decided to join our challenge. “As the Municipal Equal Opportunities Commission – states the President Maria Domenica Pedone – we are very happy with this opportunity for discussion and the possibility of establishing new relationships and consolidating those already in place with the aim of increasing gender equality and overcoming the various gaps that still exist.”

Treviso’s commitment to equal opportunities

From this first fact-finding investigation it will be possible to have a snapshot of what has been done and is being done in Treviso, how the city is moving and what new collaborations could be started. It is very clear that where women are doing well, and for “Well” means places where disparities are opposed in favor of actions for equality such as, for example, the salary equal to that of menthe presence of engaging administrative strategies towards womensupport towards female social and political participationall citizens are well.

The constant and active commitment of the municipal administration of Treviso, in particular of the Equal Opportunities Departmenttowards support strategies for women and community awareness on the issue of gender equality, also emerges this week from the desire to be present through the organization of events that address issues close to women, linked to economic independence, to female social and participatory responsibility and to the promotion of equal opportunities for the new generations and those who accompany them to change.
