Men’s volleyball. Last smiles of the season: Indeco Molfetta beat Turi and finished fourth

MOLFETTA – Last red and white smiles of the men’s volleyball season for Indeco Molfetta who won the stadium in via Cisterna di Turi and closed the season in fourth place, paired with the very strong Galatone, one of the favorites on the eve of the season. The last match of the season has little to tell, but it is the snapshot of the Indeco Molfetta season: many young people on the field, guided by the experience of some top men. The red and whites attack better (48% against 31% of the blue and whites) and receive better than their opponents (52% against 45% positive reception). Good block performance by the Molfetta team with 15 blocks on the scoresheet (3 for Petruzzelli, Ingrosso, Cappelluti and Pisani) against the 7 of Turi, whose only better statistic than Indeco is in serving with 5 winning serves against the 4 of the red and whites. Top scorer of the match Vincenzo Petruzzelli with 23 signatures in the match and 54% positivity in attack. Difino has to give up director Bernardi and relies on Gadaleta in 2003, making his debut as a starter, diagonally with Petruzzelli, from Lorusso and Borghetti, in the center Pisani and Cappelluti, with the young Giovine free. Spinelli does without the injured Manginelli and lines up Petronella as director with Cassano as opposite, Scio and Romano as a pair of wingers, Furio and Milillo in the centre, Basile as libero. The first set goes smoothly for Indeco with the red and whites taking the fourth (5-8), at the halfway stage they are still ahead (12-16) and close the game easily: 20-25. In the second half of the game, Ciccia and Ingrosso replace Lorusso and Borghetti among the ranks of Indeco, while Portoghese and Lomurno replace Scio and Romano for Turi. A carbon copy set: Indeco immediately ahead (6-8), the gap widens (10-16) and the red and whites close the set 17-25. Same formations for the two teams in the third half. At the start, Mr. Difino opts for the double substitution: Petruzzella in 2007 as setter and the second opposite Rafanelli, Petruzzelli and Gadaleta out. Indeco leads in the very first stages (6-8), then Turi wants to extend the match (16-15) and maintains the precious advantage: 25-22 at the end of the half. The fourth set was uneventful, with Indeco dominating (10-16 and 11-21). Touching last line for captain La Forgia, a life in the red and white jersey on several occasions and after various important experiences, also in the A2 series, both in the Molfetta jersey and with other historic Italian volleyball jerseys. The number 10 from Molfetta takes over Pisani for the last serve, accompanied by applause from Indeco and Turi and from the entire public. Ends 15-25 and it’s Indeco party. The red and whites close the championship in fourth place, with 46 points, tied with Galatone and immediately behind the battleships Gioia, Taviano and Grottaglie, the latter two teams involved in the post season with the promotion playoffs. Thus ends a difficult season with top-level opponents with Indeco Molfetta able to never disfigure itself against top-class opponents and athletes, bringing home important and satisfying feats throughout the sporting year. Also worth mentioning is the important youth activity of the red and white team: during the championship, the setter, born in 2007 Petruzzella and the central defender, born in 2008 Caruso, found important minutes.
