OSIMO – 18 years have passed from the flood that hit the Aspio and Stazione areas of Osimo and the neighboring area of Monte Camillone, a hamlet of Castelfidardo. It was the 2006 and it was an event that paralyzed an inhabited area with many businesses and homes. Then, in 2011, it was repeated with the same intensity. The Reclamation Consortium, through its in-house company Bme, Bonifica Marche Engineering, was called to integrate with the works completed by the province and was responsible for planning interventions aimed at containing the critical issues highlighted by the floods along the entire river basin of the Aspio river. Work on the project was concluded in recent days Ditch Rigo: the opening of the bypass canal, the reconstruction of the bridge along Via del Lavoro and the widening of the sections of the valley up to the confluence with the Aspio stream increase the safety of the area in the event of floods. The two new bridges, both made of steel, the first along state road 16 and the other a little further upstream, can also be considered completed. A third bridge remains to be built, along via della Stazione, the construction of which will start shortly, and the works for the upstream stretch between the crates and the bridge along via della Stazione, financed, in this case, with Por-Fesr funds, whose planning is in the start-up phase. Different times for the Rio Giocalasino where the grandeur of the interventions and the size of the necessary financing, around 15 million euros, required the Region to divide the construction of the six expansion basins (three on the Offagna ditch, one on the San Valentino ditch and two on Rio Giocalasino) in three functional excerpts. It is precisely in these days that the Consortium started the construction site of the second phase, financed with Pnrr funds.

The interventions and the objective

«The intervention in question is part of a much broader general project of the Marche Region – comments the engineer Stefano Stefoni, Civil Protection and Territorial Security Directorate -. Over the last few years, many economic resources have been, and will be, made available for hydrogeological risk mitigation interventions, coming from various financing channels”. The objective of the Consortium and the Region is to carry out, in addition to ordinary activities, all the necessary works in the areas already affected by major flood events to guarantee the damage-free flow of floods caused by rainfall events with a probability of occurring in excess of 200 years, as foreseen the rules. He intervenes on the completion of the works for the reduction of hydrogeological risk in the areas of the Aspio river catchment area Francesca Gironi, president of the Consortium assembly: «We return once again to reiterate the importance that these interventions represent for our territory. We have wasted far too much time considering sporadic evidence of climate change. We must protect ourselves, protect the people and places in which they live and work every day, secure our economy while fully respecting the environment, learn to look at projects in a systemic manner and above all be far-sighted and generous with future generations.”
